Incredible growth in the demand for craft beers encourages Hart Brewing to go public and 2.6 million shares are issued via the NASDAQ exchange.
1996 With the incredible growth of Pyramid, the company decides to change its corporate name from Hart Brewing, Inc. to Pyramid Breweries Inc. to better identify the company with its flagship brand.
Tilted Kilt, Pyramid's spring seasonal, is born. A rich, full-flavored ale with a deep red color, Tilted Kilt is brewed with seven varieties of malt, including a wee amount of Scotch "whiskey" malt.
1997 The Pyramid Brewery opens in Berkeley, CA to much local fanfare. Built in an old warehouse, the new facility increases Pyramid Breweries production and offers the freshest beer possible to California and the Southwest. The Pyramid Alehouse opens it's doors with a full line up of draft beers and great food.
The launch of Pyramid DPA (Draught Pale Ale) receives many accolades for the brewery. The nitrogen dispensed ale wins Barley Corn magazine's reader poll award as "New Craft Beer of the Year".
